My name is Kyrstin and I am from Londonderry, New Hampshire - a state which is quite "adequately" described by this enticing video:
I am blogging for my class entitled “Electronic Media Writing”, so, naturally, this class brings about media related subjects (shocking, I know). The holidays have recently ended, and I was able to be involved in many media-related activities over the break. One thing was that I watched the movie Inception. But not just once, I actually watched it three times with my family/friends. I was clearly excited I received the DVD for Christmas. I personally think it is one of the best movies I have seen, and definitely in my favorites of 2010.
One thing I love about our 21st century media culture is how much new technology continues to come out, and just how simple it is to find any piece of information you could possibly think of in a matter of seconds online. See? You can click that link just before this sentence, and be instantly directed to one of, if not THE best and most widely-used search engine.
However, as much as I love it, it also serves as one thing I do not like about our 21st century media culture. I feel that in this day in age, the lengths of new technology and online databases are making people completely dependent on them. It is almost as if people don’t remember how to take a vacation nowadays without having their cell phone or computer readily available at any given time. Not to mention, the use of books are almost completely forgotten about, since we can just read anything we need to with the use of the internet. So although it is a plus to today’s society, I also think it is a negative as well.
I am in my 2nd semester Junior year of college, which means I really have to be thinking about what’s to come after graduation. At this point in time, I am still undecided about what I want to do in the future. However, one of my strong passions is traveling; being able to explore all different cultures and being immersed in that is something I love, so I definitely want to incorporate travel in my profession. I studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland last semester and it was one of the best experiences I could have asked for. I was able to not only explore all of Ireland, but also several places all around Europe. I loved it there and am eager to get back as soon as possible.

This is an EXCELLENT introductory blog post, Kyrstin.
